Henry Complex Caters to Businesspeople's Needs
The next time you’re looking for an ideal location to host an upcoming event, hold an executive board meeting or impress a potential business client, look no further than the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development, located at 3535 Forest Road in Lansing.
Recently voted the Best Meeting Facility in Michigan by Michigan Meeting & Events magazine, this center combines three buildings: the Henry Complex, Candlewood Suites and the University Club along, with the Forest Akers golf courses, to provide a business professional atmosphere ready to accommodate every request imaginable.
“You have access to everything you have at a five-star resort, but you have it in the backyard of Lansing,” said Dave Frayer, director of executive development programs at the Henry Center.
The Henry Center Complex primarily serves the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management’s executive development programs. Designed to be an area for executive education and corporate learning, the building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, classrooms, board rooms and study group areas used by students, Michigan State University board members and local businesses and corporations.
Connected to the Henry Center is Candlewood Suites. Made up of 128 suites, every room includes a kitchenette, an Ethernet connection and multiple phone lines. Guests of the hotel are also allowed temporary membership to the University Club, accessible from the Henry Center.
Members to the University Club have access to a fitness center and spa, an Olympic-size swimming pool and a seasonal sports complex with active leagues, teams and lessons. There is plenty to do for the entire family with various children’s activities and a child care facility. Guests may also dine at the University Dining Club, which overlooks the Forest Akers golf courses.
Made up of two golf courses, the East and West courses, Forest Akers was recently given a Top Ten award for Best Value in the ZAGAT Guide to America’s Top Courses 2006/2007 release. As the home to MSU golf teams and hosts of annual tournaments, Forest Akers is complete with a learning center which provides custom club fitting, instructional clinics and classes, as well as a driving range and golf shop.
With an annual attendance of more than 30,000 visitors, the combination has proved to be a successful one for the complex center.
“It’s the ambiance,” Frayer said. “It gives a wonderful impression of MSU and what it has to offer to the community [and] it’s available to everyone; it’s not exclusive for the university.”
So, for your next event, meeting or retreat contact the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development and let the complex center impress you again and again.
