Local Small Business Owner to Hold Benefit for Parkinson’s
Holt resident Tammy Kozumplik is using her hair styling talents to raise awareness and funds for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) by hosting a Cut-a-Thon at Holt Hair and Nails on Saturday, February 11.
Since Kozumplik’s mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 15 years ago, she has held the cause close to her heart. She has looked for ways to get involved, whether by learning more about Parkinson’s or making small donations. Upon opening her salon Holt Hair and Nails this past August, she saw it as, “another great opportunity to pay it forward.”
With help from the PDF Champions programs (the organization’s program to generate awareness and fundraising at the grassroots level) she and her four stylists have organized the Cut-a-Thon, through which they hope to raise $500. The stylists will donate five dollars to PDF from each cut and styling service provided between 10 AM and 6 PM. The Cut-a-Thon will also feature a silent auction, with all proceeds benefitting PDF. Customers can bid on prizes that include gift certificates for services at the salon, a pizzeria gift certificate and a free oil change.
