"Be Bold, Feel Beautiful" Project Issues Last Call to Photograph Mid-Michigan Cancer Patients
More than 50 Lansing-area women have already been photographed for the "Be Bold, Feel Beautiful" campaign, but 50 more are needed to be part of the photography project designed to help raise cancer awareness.
Lansing-area photographer Terri Shaver is spearheading the project to photograph women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
Shaver founded The Oldham Project, a nonprofit organization that provides free portraits to people suffering from life-threatening illnesses. For the "Be Bold, Feel Beautiful" project, she's partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure/Mid-Michigan to mount an exhibit of 20-by-24-inch photos starting in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Adams Outdoor Advertising is donating billboards to advertise the exhibit. Maps featuring all businesses displaying the photos will be available at each location, so those interested can visit all of the portraits on exhibit.
Shaver is taking photographs by appointment only, Monday through Friday, through Sept. 30, at The Oldham Project's portrait studio in East Lansing. Douglas J Spa and Mary Kay are providing free makeup applications for subjects prior to each photo session.
To host a portrait or to schedule a photo appointment, contact Shaver at 517-256-0490 or visit www.theoldhamproject.org.
