Boy Scouts of America Announce Awards, Celebration

In 1977, the Chief Okemos Council, Boy Scouts of America established the Distinguished Citizen award to honor outstanding individuals serving the Greater Lansing area. These individuals have dedicated themselves to their professions, the community and the support of youth programs.

Recipients of the 2010 Distinguished Citizen Award: Dr. Stephen Guertin with Sparrow Hospital PICU, Sheri Jones with WLNS Channel 6 and Stuart Dunnings Jr. with Dunnings Law Firm.

This year, the award ceremony will honor Dr. James E. Potchen of Michigan State University with the Distinguished Eagle award. Also being celebrated is the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

The event will be held on February 24 at Michigan State University’s Spartan Club (4th floor of the Spartan Stadium). The event will start at 6 p.m. with a strolling dinner.
