October 2009 - Kitchens and Baths

Chris holman - Commentary - The Greater Lansing business monthly

Kitchens are the most important rooms in American’s lives. Do you know that families function so much around the kitchen, that for years, bankers would close mortgages in homes? We were all taught to close deals at the kitchen table because everyone knew that’s where the family got together and where family decisions were made.

Family gatherings (happy or sad) have always revolved around the kitchen; food is prepared and people gather in a place where conversation takes place.

Kitchens are especially important in our household because my wife is such a marvelous cook. One of the things that makes her such a perfect woman, she is a dietician who is not only excellent at preparing meals, but she knows how nutritional they are—so they deliver the best bang for the buck.

The preparation area where my wife does her masterful work is a very important space, and as I write we are planning a kitchen renovation. If you think that we did this issue at The Greater Lansing Business Monthly merely to placate the needs of the owner, you are absolutely wrong; though I will admit that the timeliness of this issue has been great for the decision-making process.

Bathrooms, on the other hand, are a place where some can soak in a hot tub to relax and can be a place in the house to find uninterrupted time. Most importantly, if it weren’t for bathrooms, the male population would not be as literate as they are.

My wife and I are ecstatic knowing there is so much expertise in remodeling kitchens and bathrooms in the mid-Michigan area, we actually can’t wait to get started. The project is important to my wife and that means it is important to me. I feel much better knowing that we will get the help needed to produce the perfect kitchen.

Congratulations as well to this group of businesses who have found the niche of remodeling and renovating, and during very tough times and circumstances, have found a way to thrive in this tough economy. Thank you to those who participated in this issue.

Have a prosperous month,

Chris Holman
