The business pictured on the cover is near and dear to my heart, not because I dabble in making things with glass but because I have an art glass collection, and I greatly appreciate how the material can be shaped and molded into stunning and useful objects. At Delphi Glass, there are vast rows of glass squares of every color and texture imaginable just waiting to be transformed into a window, lampshade, vase or other work of art. Throughout this issue, you will find craftspeople that create functional items from beautiful raw materials, such as oak, cherry and steel. Other stories feature businesses that help you tap into your own creativity to make a useful object, whether it’s a quilt, platter, sweater, keepsake album or a beaded necklace. Enjoy reading about these businesses and get inspired to let a bit of your creativity flow.

With this issue, I am also going to say farewell to you and the Business Monthly. During the past seven years as editor, I have learned so much from all of you. Thank you for sharing your expertise, challenges and successes with me, and in turn, the rest of the business community. When I started at the magazine, Chris said I would never run out of interesting stories to tell, and he was right. Mid-Michigan businesspeople are savvy, motivated and dedicated to the community. I will always greatly value my time at the magazine and appreciate working with such a talented and committed staff; excellent group of freelance writers, photographers and copyeditors; and enthusiastic and intelligent columnists.

The magazine will be in good hands as Kelly Roberson joined the Business Monthly in mid-January. She looks forward to uncovering the unique, successful and remarkable ventures in Greater Lansing.
