Novemeber 2010 - "Holman's on Facebook!"
Let me start out by offering a big, hearty thank you (and a business hug) to everyone who was part of the Greater Lansing Business Showcase on October 28; which for me is “business Christmas.”
It’s a great event for several reasons, but mostly for the interaction and networking opportunities the day provides. Our seasoned exhibitors know that it’s more than collecting pencils and erasers—it’s about utilizing the key decision-makers in the room and seizing opportunities. It was a tremendous day and really proved that our small business community is vibrant and growing.
I also want to offer a fitting goodbye to Stacy Adado, an employee of mine for over 15 years. It’s amazing that, when someone is with you that long, what a great friend they become and what a true friend to your business they are as well. Stacy gave us the best she had for many, many years and has moved on to a position that better accommodates her family, which I applaud her for. She will be sorely missed and I’m deeply grateful for having her as a friend and employee.
The beauty about change is that we’ve hired a new vice president of sales and marketing, Tara Peplowski. Tara has been a friend for many, many years and I’m excited to have her on board for her numerous strengths, as she is tremendous at what she does; she has a great background for this position and she’ll be working on generating non-traditional GLBM revenue. This work includes the Holiday Gala which is coming up on December 3. (Call our office at 517-487-1714 to get your tickets now!)
Now, let me speak to the cover, as I’m very close to it. Bill Hamilton has done a tremendous job, as many people have done in the local technology industry, and they’re integral to the change of our business culture. The business featured here are reflective of what the State of Michigan wants to do, which is getting away from the old Rust Belt moniker to promote new, high-tech sectors.
I’ve recently joined the ranks of Facebook, at the urging of my good friend Karen Sharky. I do have to say, as much trepidation as I had about signing up, it has opened up communication channels. Please add me as a friend, I’d love to interact with you and have you be a part of my network. I also want to thank all of you who have sent me friend requests, especially those of you who have sent messages saying, “Is the sky falling? Holman’s on Facebook!” Know that I’m here for you, I’m in the trenches with you and we’re all in this together.
Lastly, as always, thanks for everything mid-Michigan and from all of us here at GLBM, we wish you a prosperous month.
