May 2009 - Award Winners Shine
As I say every year at this time, our May issue of the magazine is my favorite, because we feature the businesspeople who have been honored with the year’s Entrepreneurial Awards of Greater Lansing. Who is driving us forward these days? Who is bringing the jobs to the marketplace? Who is showing us innovation, new ideas for products and services? It is especially important to honor these people and the positive outlook they exemplify during a time when so much of the media coverage describes an economic downturn and discouraging unemployment figures.
This issue is about showcasing those businesspeople who consider today’s economic picture a challenge, who look for new ways and better ways to create business success despite the many naysayers. Sometimes they are doing what others are doing, only doing it better; sometimes they are working in their own unique niche. One thing is for certain: They are optimistic and continually looking for what can be done, rather than at what can’t be done. The very diversity of the businesses represented in the 2009 awards is a sign of the exciting and positive look for the business future in Michigan, and particularly here in the Greater Lansing area.
Again this year, the many excellent nominees for these awards, along with the winners, are an indication of a vibrant business climate, and we congratulate all for their contributions. As you read this issue, you’ll see why I am so enthusiastic about our award winners and all they represent. Thank you to my staff, headed by Stacy Adado, who have brought the Entrepreneurial Award evenings to such an outstanding level of enjoyment and recognition, a great event for mid-Michigan business.
As always, The Greater Lansing Business Monthly wishes you a prosperous month.
