Innovative Marketing Strategies

feature-5

With the challenging economy facing small business owners today, it is imperative to have a focus and a product that turns money spent into more cash earned. And that is exactly what Justin Caine, co-owner of Good Fruit Video, an internet marketing firm, is doing for his clients.

“When tough economic times hit, one of the first budgets to get cut is advertising. And that can really hurt a company or organization in the long run,” Justin explains.

Recognizing that there is still a marketing need for businesses despite the economic hardship, Justin and his partner, Kraig Westfall, combined their technological and graphic talents to create an online marketing business that would financially appeal to clients while providing them with the exposure they desire.

“Internet marketing and social media sources like Facebook and Twitter have reinvented marketing strategies,” Justin shares. “The Obama campaign is a prime example of how powerful and far-reaching these media tools are if used properly. If a business owner or organization can utilize a single video clip to reach beyond its local market, which means bypassing traditional advertising sources, the owner has effectively moved the marketing efforts from just a local market to a national one.

“This means that any business can operate from literally anywhere and reap the benefits the same as a company that may have multiple locations nationwide in prosperous economic areas.”

What this essentially means is that online businesses or local businesses with a retail or service-oriented website can continue to compete in other markets even if their base location is experiencing economic difficulties. It is no secret that the majority of businesses to fold in tough economic markets are small businesses as overhead costs continue to rise while their revenue slowly shrinks because local patrons cut back on nonessentials.

Understanding that there are indeed different marketing needs, Good Fruit Video provides essentially three types of Internet advertising: profile videos, news videos and event videos. Each type of video production is based on what the client wants and needs, allowing the client to choose length, content and coverage.

“BizVidz, the profile videos, provide the largest exposure,” Justin says, “They give the client approximately 1½ minutes of client information. Within those minutes, clients are provided maximum exposure through video release.  This means that they receive 30,000 pictures per second in every video frame. This allows clients to give detailed accounts of their product or intent with testimonials, audio and visual ad effects.

“The video clip allows ample time for testimonials and for an organization to provide a full picture of their services, offers and differentiation. Once the video clip is finished, it is theirs [the clients’] to do whatever,” Justin explains.  “They paid for it and they bought it.  The copyright is theirs and they can reuse in any market they desire.

“Imagine a traditional ad running for a minute and half; that is a lot of advertising for your dollar.”

Secondly, Good Fruit Video produces news videos, also known as NewzVidz. This type of releases generally provides individual organizations that have marketing events the opportunity to enhance their personal or business media coverage. The NewzVidz allow for approximately 30-45 seconds of information sharing.

“This type of Internet marketing generally draws companies that have a newsworthy event for their own company, but one that typically local television stations would not cover,” Justin says. “It may not be what some consider newsworthy for TV, but good for the company such as a grand opening or ribbon cutting ceremony for a cause or fundraiser.

“It is still good business sense, but just not headlining news. It is important to them and interesting to their clientele, so online media coverage may be all that they need. With NewzVidz, clients are getting more than a ten-second blip through local coverage. They are paying for meaningful coverage that actually targets a market when and where they want it,” he finishes.

Lastly, Justin explains that they provide event video coverage, also known as EventVidz. Jason shares that EventVidz are an excellent way for companies or organizations to build a repertoire of media coverage.

“What this means,” Justin continues, “Is that they can hire businesses like mine to follow their events and happenings to build a public profile. Chris and I will cover the event for two to three hours, and then build a minute- and 15- second video clip that summarizes the event or highlights certain messages. Local municipalities and sponsor recruiting events often choose this Internet marketing approach because it gives them exposure, but allows them to also build a larger marketing plan.

“The City of Lansing’s campaign to attract new business to the area is an excellent example of EventVidz. The Lansing area itself hosts over 1,200 culturally based events each year and through video coverage the city has been able to build a promotion résumé to boost economic development and growth.”

Another aspect of utilizing Internet and social media markets is that it is environmentally friendly because there isn’t any paper trail. Clients are provided a disk of their video production, and they can also access their video through video sharing sights like YouTube.com or screencast.com.

Justin points out, too, that through easy accessibility on video sharing sights, turnaround and editing times are often less than 24 hours. Day and Done is another service Good Fruit provides. “It’s where we show up at an event, shoot and edit it and have the final product ready to go by the time of the reception,” Caine says.

“Staying focused on the company or organization goal; being efficient; and providing our clients a polished, educational and visually stimulating video piece is our mission,” Justin concludes. “Their satisfaction and success is the key to ours.”
